If you want to go to college, Freire is where you need to be. Freire Wilmington has one of the highest college enrollment rates of any public high school in Delaware. In fact, Freire Schools’ college enrollment rate far exceeds both the national average (69%) as well as Delaware’s state average (61%).
At Freire Wilmington, dedicated Academic Advisors and College Counselors will help you plan for college, find the school that’s right for you, and apply for scholarships and financial aid.
College by the Numbers
98% of Freire Wilmington’s first-ever graduating class in 2019 were accepted to college. The Classes of 2020 and 2021 faced a unique set of challenges with COVID-19, and more students opted to take a gap year due to uncertainty about the pandemic’s impact on college. But, the Class of 2021 still made impressive strides toward their college goals:
- 79% of graduates were accepted to at least one college.
- The Class of 2021 earned a total of more than $4.6 million in scholarships and financial aid, for an average of over $56,000 per graduate.
- The 83 graduates in Freire Wilmington’s Class of 2021 were accepted to over 70 colleges and universities.
- The percentage of students filling out the FAFSA (an indicator for college matriculation) increased over 2019-20 and exceeded the state average.
